HISTORY

The AMS Unlocked Festival originated from a collaborative effort between several major student associations at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), including AIM, Sefa, JFAS, VSPA, and SES. The concept was first sparked during an AIM Party committee meeting in October 2021 with the goal of creating a massive, unified event to celebrate the end of the academic year and the return of social life following two years of pandemic restrictions.

 

After months of preparation and the formation of a cross-association network, the festival officially launched on June 8, 2022, at the Thuishaven venue.

 

The debut edition was an immediate success, drawing over 1,500 students and establishing itself as Amsterdam’s largest student-led music festival.
